Type in Japanese
The first step is to enable the display and input of it on your computer. Nihongo o Narau has a pretty good guide here, and here’s how to input Japanese characters once you have the East-Asian language support installed.
When I want to type in Japanese, I first go up to the language bar on the Windows taskbar.

If you don’t have the language bar enabled, follow the instructions on this page.
I select the EN option and a drop-down menu appears.

I selects JP from the drop-down menu and wait for the change to take place in the application I’m working in.

So for instance when I click on “Mozilla Firefox”, the language bar will display that I’m working in JP rather than EN like Photoshop.

I then press the ALT and ~ keys on the keyboard at the same time to switch to Japanese input and…ほら! すごいですね?
