Site History

Previous Domain

I had owned one domain previous to this one: Ohayou-morning.net. It was a total flop. It was basically an experimental domain, with basically no actual content, ever. I just played with layouts and scripts and stuff on it, and learned the ropes of having a domain.

In the Beginning

Misstuned.com was registered 2 June 2006. It really stunk until around late October/early November 2006 when I finally made a usable, kinda fugly WordPress theme and started adding some actual visitor content.

This domain was originally intended to be a personal domain, but my life isn’t very interesting to write about, so in the second post (first if you don’t count the introductory post), I wrote about the news. Until about September 2006, 50% of the posts here were personal. The focus then shifted into writing more and more about the news and current events until personal posts are now (in June 2008) a rarity.

Site Identity Crisis #1: The Beginning of “MariMari”

I had a site identity crisis in early April 2007, and it led to Misstuned officially becoming a newsclip web log featuring visitor content and hosting services. Personal posts popped up now and then, but they will were much fewer and far between. The biggest change was that I began writing in third person. For more information, please visit this page.

Paid Content

Around May 2007, I decided to start doing paid posts and advertising on this site. Mainly because I was really poor at the time. In November 2007, I stopped all paid activities on Mt, after becoming thoroughly disgusted with the fact that “paid content” is essentially spamming your own blog. As it is now, I don’t take any money for anything.

Move to Holdfire

I got fed up with my previous host, Dreamhost’s downtime in late 2007 through early 2008, and decided to move to Holdfire. With 20 hostees, it was a large process, so I enlisted the help of former hostee Jaclyn and current hostee Tammi. Thank you so much forever, you two! ♥

Unfortunately, I am a lazy loser who can’t manage to do jack squat correctly, and here it is, 12 June 2008, and I still havent reinstated my hostees.

Site Identity Crisis #2: The End of “MariMari”

Around April 2008, a bit of e-drama got me thinking about where my site really fits into this big mess of tubes. I didn’t fit in with my blogroll anymore, because they were still doing paid posts, and I thought it made their sites look junky. Unfortunately, they were all really touchy on the subject, and I had written the post very ham-handedly, so I lost 1 of my blogroll, and 3 loyal readers.

However, my blogroll’s blogroll’s lovely comments1 got me thinking. I no longer liked the third person perspective that I’d been writing in since April 2007. In tandem with a messy server move, half-assed hostee service, and lack of meaningful recent content, I was getting to think this whole “having a website thing” was pointless. It took me from April 2008, through about half of June 2008 to decide what I wanted to do. In the end, I decided to cut the third person, and revamp my entire network. Hooray!

  1. AKA “flames” However, to me, they weren’t really flames. I tell myself the things they said everyday, so they don’t count as “flames”. []
