Comcast Limits Customers to 250 GB Bandwidth

I’m still on hiatus! Just had to post this.

Have you ever seen those black-background-ed, multicolor font-ed Comcast commercials on TV?

Unlimited internet access that’s 5x faster than our leading competitors” Or something like that, right?

*insert 10-minute laughing fit* Oh, whew! *clears throat* Ah, sorry. As a loyal Comcast customer that pays their outrageously-high bill each month, I can attest to the fact that Comcast’s advertising department is full of crap.

Officially. They even admitted it themselves. Look. They’re going to limit usage to 250 GB per month, and threaten people who actually manage to get their $100 worth of Internet per month with termination of service.

Isn’t that great?! Rather than install new, faster cable and make network improvements to ease network congestion, they thought up a simple, customer-screwing way around their obvious deficiencies! Hooray for Comcast. And they still have those cleverly colored commercials proudly proclaiming their unlimited access and unattainable speeds!

I’m so proud of them. Rather than investing the customers’ hard-gouged money into actually fixing the problem, they WEASELED THEIR WAY OUT OF IT, AND ARE STILL ATTRACTING MORE AND MORE CHUMPS TO THEIR SERVICE EACH DAY. Of course, they are promising a free Wii to anyone who signs up to get shafted for their service.

So, umm…I hate to crash your chump recruitment advertising department office party, Comcast, but… YOUR INTERNET SERVICE SUCKS. YOUR IDEAS ABOUT HOW TO BETTER SERVE YOUR CUSTOMERS SUCK. YOUR DVR SERVICE SUCKS. YOUR TELEVISION SERVICE’S QUALITY SUCKS. YOUR PRICES SUCK. YOUR INTERNET SERVICE’S SPEEDS ARE NOWHERE NEAR WHAT IS ADVERTISED, AND THAT IN TURN, MEANS THAT YOUR INTERNET SERVICE’S SPEED SUCKS. YOUR SERVICE IS NO LONGER UNLIMITED AND LEGALLY YOU MAY NOT ADVERTISE IT AS SUCH, AND THEREFORE YOUR CLAIM OF BEING AN UNLIMITED SERVICE SUCKS.

I’ll keep it short and sweet.

Dear Comcast,

You suck. I want my money back. I am switching to Verizon as soon their service is available in my area. 1

Thank You. Please Go Bankrupt.

  1. I am aware that Verizon is most certainly evil as well, and possibly just as evil as you, but I miss my Tivo that I had with Directv. []

I had previously used Comcast. My husband actually called them about the throttling of our bandwidth and they threatened him with the termination of service.

I don’t get it? Like, honestly, I don’t get it. Companies have all this money, they have the power to fix their problems, but they blatantly ignore the fact that fixing it would improve their current AND future services just to make more money and piss people off more.

I need to like.. live on an island or something, because stuff drives me mad.

Yeah, seems like something they’d do. Honestly, they’re just ridiculous. Only problem for me is that they’re the ONLY high-speed provider in the area. It’s literally Comcast or dial-up. Not even a cheap local DSL as an option.

Yeah, it’s called business school. I’m pretty sure there’s a class called “Screwing the Customer 101″.

I know. Sometimes the things people in large numbers do makes me wonder.
