Misstuned » Any Ideas?

Any Ideas?

Well, Mari went and made this new theme edit, but Mari’s stuck on whether or not she likes the background.

Mari thought of stripes or possibly a solid background, but the dots seemed to strike her the most as she worked.
Now, Mari’s not so sure about them.

Maybe a raindrop background would go better?

Do you have any ideas?
[EDIT 4] Oh, and does this theme display as it does in this (very large) screencap in your browser on your OS? Please state what those are, if you would.

By the way, this theme is called “Ah…mada yamanai ame” for those who can’t read Mari’s scribbly Japanese. It means “Ah…the rain keeps falling”. Mari both had the NEWS song with that line (lyrics here) stuck in her head and thought it was clever, seeing as this theme is a remix of Mari’s first favorite theme for her site - “Ame”

[EDIT] LOL! Mari just realized that she forgot the “i” at the end of “yamanai”. Mari will fix. This is what happens when Mari has to write (in any language) at 3 am. FIXED ^O^ *starts singing for the 300th time tonight* “ギラギラ太陽…”

[EDIT 2] And Mari added a “ma” above the one kanji when the ma is clearly not part of the pronunciation of it. Mari blames Mari being stupid now. XDDDDD Mari ish idiot. FIXED TOO

[EDIT 3] OMGUGUYZ Mari is t3h suck at this. Mari just realized the top part of the “t” in “misstuned” is covered up unintentionally by a raindrop. LOL FIXED~! ♥

    Love the new theme (when did we stop using the word ‘layout’?), the background’s awesome as it is!

  • Joana on Reply to this comment

    Ooh, it’s nice to see this theme back - I liked it a lot. I like the dots because it contrasts nicely with the rest. No stripes, they bug the eyes after a while.

    @Melissa

    We stopped using the word layout when people decided to start spelling layout “lyt”. Mari is an idiot and reads that as “light”.

    Okay, so one vote for keeping it.

    @Joana

    It was Mari’s favorite theme for Mt.

    Okay, so two votes for keeping the polka dotted background.

    I love the theme but ya I think the dots should be the shape of a rain drop it would look awesome… but the colours are greatt!!

  • Jaclyn on Reply to this comment

    I think all raindrops would be too much, maybe a mix of circles and drops? Carefully placed random raindrops would look cool. Even so, the theme is GORGEOUS! I absolutely love it!

    @Anusha

    Thanks. Mari was thinking that, but now, maybe notsomuch. The dots have grown on Mari.

    OH NOES!!1!one1 Mari has chickenpox. XDDDDD lol Mari ish idiot.

    @Jaclyn

    Hmm, that would take a lot more work…but Mari will try it in Photoshop whenever Mari gets ’round to fixing the screwed up words.

    The theme looks great on my OS, only that the font is different than in the screenshot =)

    aah i love your new theme so kawaii, i in love with that song too lol

    Gasp! *wacks* look at my horrible english XD

    @Veronica

    Which font? The one in the nav? (That’s Century Gothic, btw).

    And what is your OS, if you don’t mind Mari asking?

    Btw, nice work on your subdomain. (Mari loves black and pink.)

    Thanks! o(^O^ )o o( ^O^)o

    LOL, bad english is okay with Mari.

    Mari was in love with Arashi’s Step and Go first, but then Taiyou no Namida got to her and it’s been drifting through her head at random intervals since.

    Just randomly: Did you see the Taiyou no Namida Music Station performance where they all get soaked? *cackles like a witch* Pi gets the most drenched, though.

    I think the polkadots look amazing on the theme; it adds the Japanese “appeal” to it. And the layout looks perfect on my browser (latest version of Firefox on XP)!

  • Becky on Reply to this comment

    I think the layout looks great with the dots on the background, would be too much rain if there was a rain drop background :)
    I’m on Vista in Firefox and the layout works exactly like in the screencap ^_^

  • Maria on Reply to this comment

    @Mari

    Yes i did, and i wished that they were wearing white.

    @Enzo

    Thanks! Good to know that most normal webmasters (who should be using Firefox anyway) should see this theme properly.

  • Mari on Reply to this comment

    @Becky

    So that’s *counts* five definite votes for keeping the dots as opposed to 1.5 for trying raindrops. Mari thinks she’ll stay with the dots (especially after trying some raindrops out in Photoshop yesterday).

    Good to know that it isn’t messed up in Vista.

    XDDDDDD

    This comment made my day.

    By raindrops, do you mean an animation ?

    And by the way, is it only me or if you stare at the background ( all the dots ), there is an optical illusion and the dots begin to move or something like this ? It may only be me ¬¬ :)

  • Daniela on Reply to this comment

    Lovely layout:-) I have a suggestion though for the background: Why not try a blue bg instead of black/grey? I think that would fit in better. It could also be a striped background or something.

    Commenting again since I see you’ve got an edit. Looked at the screenshot and it’s displaying just like that on my smaller resolutions. Here are the specs I viewed it on:

    Firefox 2.0.0.12, 1024×768 res, Windows XP

    and I viewed it on my laptop with Firefox 2.0.012, 1280×800 res and Windows Vista.

    Forgot to check IE on the laptop and I refuse to use it on the desktop because it runs sooo slowly! X_x

    Mari has never noticed any optical illusions, but they do start to burn your retinas after a while. XD

  • Mari on Reply to this comment

    @Jonathan, again

    Oh, sorry, Mari forgot to answer the question you had. No, Mari wouldn’t be doing an animation (that’d be way too much - ugly pixels, retina-burning colors and a moving, animated background).

  • Mari on Reply to this comment

    @Daniela

    Mari had considered a blue background instead of the gray. Unfortunately, using the same blue in the nav and in the footer is really retina-burning (pretty, though).

    Maybe Mari should install a clickable CSS style changer plugin for the sidebar so visitors can change the background image/font sizes…

    @Joana

    Thanks so much for the compatibility info! Mari knows it looks terrible in IE 6 and under, but IE 7 seems to be fine. (Mari hates IE anyway…)

    I like the dots. Really. And the pink links.

    - Connect-the-dots.

    - Rorschach inkblot test. (No one ever does this as as background. Think of all the psychological tests you can inflict on your readers on a daily basis… without them even knowing it.)

    - The metaphorical possibilities of dots are endless.

    - Run a contest. Find the single yellow dot among the white dots, win a prize. :P

    I’m totally kidding, of course. Yes, I am. ;)

  • Mari on Reply to this comment

    @Massa P

    Yay! Fruityoaty likes the dots! Mari’s mission is accomplished.

    XD Connect-the-dots would be fun. ‘Ceptin for the Javascript or flash it would need, and thus would crash Mari’s own computer.

    OMG. LMAO Though, Mari’s bad drawing would get remarks like “Uhh, this one looks like a pig with an umbrella flying to Mexico like Mary Poppins.” “It’s supposed to be a basketball…T_T”

    Give Mari a way to implement that with CSS while not having a background image the size of an average mp3 album, and Mari would so entirely seriously do that. XD

    zomgz u guys fruityoaty has a new posts!!!!!!!1one1
