In Response: A Summarized Explanation

In response to comments on this post.

This one is for when someone is getting on your nerves on the Internets.

“Everyone is on the Internet for a reason.” - Mari

The intent of this quote is to slightly guide those who are younger, or perhaps those who are simply less mature than their age occasionally, to think about why someone may be mean to them on the Internet. If a young child of say, 12, is bullied on the Internet by schoolyard chums, it would give them some perspective or greater understanding of the situation were they to find out that the people bullying them have broken families and problems of their own, and were attempting to feel “big” by saying things anonymously on the Internet.

People are likely to converge on the Internet after hectic workweeks and tiring school days, which can lead to the age old problem of:

Once you find someone’s motivation, their raison d’être for Internet use, you understand a lot more about their actions. Not to say that someone’s personal problems can justify their actions, but it gives you perspective and allows you to take a step back to survey the situation, rather than behaving like a large, overgrown child, as some examples show that even supposedly mature adults may do.

It’s a basic Mister Rogers lesson, but on the Internet, where there is no Mister Rogers, Mari feels it needed to be repeated. Daily.

Nice comic, I like that, good find. Yea, people do find reasons to go online to try to enjoy themselves, and everyone has their reasons, whether they go to bully or go to relax. Those are some good examples though.

I completely agree with you. I never understood why people were such…idiots over the internet. The one thing I always HATED and thought was completely ignorant, is when someone complains about someone else’s website. 1. It’s the internet, who cares. 2. It’s THEIR website

aha good comic by the way

I agree too. Many are almost a different person when they are on the internet where they thinks no-one can track them. It’s quite scary really.

And Happy New year to you btw!

So true. Some people can’t let go of immaturity…it’s more “fun.” To me it’s no fun, though, just stupid and embarrassing.
