MARI HAS BROUGHT TEH FORK
Emz wrote this wonderful post on how Last.fm users can be total and complete jackasses (four legs and a tail) in response to Mari whining for a new post.
Mari’s has had people repeatedly call her a spambot on AIM in the past. Mari eventually gave up chatting with users she hadn’t actually met. Why? Mari uses proper grammar and spelling. Obviously, typing correctly means you are a robot.
Mari doesn’t read any responses to her comments on Digg. Mari is too aware that she’s probably been called a liar/transsexual/”fag” or some other godawful slur on Digg, because Digg users (being predominantly male and stupid ones at that) claim vehemently that, “There are no women on Digg.” Wonder why… Could it possibly be that by denying a female her ownership of a female reproductive system, you are reducing her worth as a person? Any woman with any dignity will just leave.
Mari sees countless queries as to why there are no women on Digg. There are plenty of other communities (like Despair.nu for instance) that are full of women and a few non-threatening men. We womencritters seem to be more comfortable when not annoyed by certain types of men and their moronic headbutting. It’s funny because those types of men probably think that makes them look cool, when they puff their chests out on the Internet when they are rude and snappy with someone. They’re going, “LMAO, I TOTALLY PWNED THAT NOOB!” Mari, and many other women are thinking, “No, you just made yourself look like a big four-legged jackass.”
Males from Digg: There are “no women” on Digg because we see no point, for the most part, to arguing on the Internet. If there are females, they most likely don’t comment, because…what is there to say that can’t cause you to retort with “Oh you’re not a woman. There are no women on Digg“?
Mari doesn’t comment often, because honestly, the comments from a select few men who CAN’T SPELL with extremist opinions arguing over something controversial get annoying. All it is is mindless chest-thumping on the parts of those individuals. Another part of the comments is arguing over spelling/grammar. Another part of the comments is insults at other Digg users. Another part of the comments is just pointless. Very rarely is there anything worth reading.
Mari isn’t on Digg to be told what her gender is, or what a few misogynistic pieces of used toilet paper think on women’s issues or stories that deal with women. Mari doesn’t mind a few male-centric comments now and then, but when the whole comments section is some moron and his cronies snickering at a “Get back in the kitchen” joke, Mari feels lucky that she does not A) own a cast-iron skillet and B) know these men, because Mari would be flinging that skillet at them like a frisbee.
These men who make constant jokes at women and try to devalue them won’t hear of it when some brave woman dares to make fun of the size of their “equipment” or any other jokes about men. What, you can dish it out but you can’t take it? If you’re going to be the mean little boy who made fun of all the girls on the playground, don’t be surprised if one of them decides it’s enough and makes fun of you.
Point is, people need to treat each other better on the Internet. Just because you can’t see each other doesn’t mean you still aren’t acting inappropriately in public. Mari thinks this Penny Arcade comic sums it up best.

Hear, all ye good people, hear what this brilliant and eloquent speaker has to say!
Emz completely agrees with this post and is glad to see Mari talking about moofy males too (so that Emz isn’t being the only happy hammy hoofy female!). Let’s hope they don’t come running like a stampede at us!
Although, they would get caught up comparing their manly-bits along the way, and therefore would never make it!
Gah. Internet men.
Total F**kwad. Teehee!
P.S.
*Emz bows to the all-mighty powerful fork!*
@Emz
XDDDDDDDDDDDD
The fork is the shizz, is it not?
I’ve noticed that on digg people have a tendency to act like total idiots to such an extent that I cannot recall any forum that was ever that bad. lol Maybe that’s why the creators of Digg have made Pownce? They’re fed up with the majority of the Digg community? Very likely.
I hardly comment either unless a friend or fellow postie/blogger makes a request that we digg their article. I might leave a comment on digg then but usually I just comment on their blog entry and digg it for them.
Haha really, this can’t be healthy
@Joana
Yeah, this makes forum flame wars look like sparklers in comparison to the stupidity of most Digg users.
Mari is a Digg regular, and Mari tries not to comment, because usually they just treat her like crap.
@Shoko
Huh?
I haven’t even heard of Digg; I may have to look at it one day just to see how dumb the guys are. That’s so stupid that they don’t believe there are any females on that site; that would seriously piss me off as it has done you two. The Penny Arcade comment made me laugh, a lot.
@Rach
Mari thinks you live under a rock. XD Kidding.
It is demeaning and honestly, Mari has trouble believing that they think they have rights to complain about the lack of women when they treat them so crappily.
Eek. I’m not a member of Digg, thank goodness. I like StumbleUpon much more =D
@Diana
Mari has been thinking about using StumbleUpon rather than Digg.
I’m not familiar with “Digg” but I am familiar with people being morons on fansites/comment boards/etc. I agree that it’s better to just have something good to say even though you don’t know the person. If you have nothing nice to say, don’t comment at all!
I’ve never bothered with Digg before, but it reminds of YouTube with comments like that. Meh.
I suppose the best thing to do is stay away from sites like that ^^;;
It’s pretty ridiculous the lengths people will go to prove that they’re better than someone on the Internet, when they’re really not.
@Kris
Why don’t people tell their kids that anymore? XD Mari was practically raised on it.
@Eina
Well, unless you don’t want to live under a rock. News sites really do keep you filled in.
@Gill
Exactly. It doesn’t prove anything, because they’re not better than anyone else.
I’ve never heard of Digg until that link.. and I went there, but couldn’t really find a reason for being there.
And yay… robots for having proper grammar and spelling! *gasps*
I wish they’d ALL do that…
And yeah, stupid, sexual maniatic, anon guys who want to brag about nothing is quite annoying.
My boyfriend gets annoying too, when he’s online because he can say things he can’t say straight into my face.
@Hiro
Digg is apparently unknown in normal site circles. Mari is such a big dork.
Mari wishes she knew why men had to be such asses online.
You have a very good point there. Digg doesn’t sound all that good anymore.
@Kaysha
You sound like you kinda…didn’t read the post. That’s depressing.
@ Mari
The fork is totally THE shizz!
[...] Just now Mari actually looked at the site, and Mari’s running an old version of the plugin. Mari will update later today, but still, Mari hates being labeled a spambot. [...]
