Internet Fight Leads to Burnt House
You know those stupid Internet fights that 40 year old men who can’t figure out how to turn the CAPS LOCK key off have? Apparently some of them are so stoopid that they take it to real life.
ELM MOTT, Texas - A Navy man who got mad when someone mocked him as a “nerd” over the Internet climbed into his car and drove 1,300 miles from Virginia to Texas to teach the other guy a lesson.
As he made his way toward Texas, Fire Controlman 2nd Class Petty Officer Russell Tavares posted photos online showing the welcome signs at several states’ borders, as if to prove to his Internet friends that he meant business.
When he finally arrived, Tavares burned the guy’s trailer down.
This week, Tavares, 27, was sentenced to seven years in prison after pleading no contest to arson and admitting he set the blaze.
“I didn’t think anybody was stupid enough to try to kill anybody over an Internet fight,” said John G. Anderson, 59, who suffered smoke inhalation while trying to put out the 2005 blaze that caused $50,000 in damage to his trailer and computer equipment.’
Crazy. Absolutely bat!#@% crazy.
What do you think?

I think: LAWL. XD Turns out the internet IS serious business, after all.
I always knew there were crazy people out there on the internet who like to cause trouble. Moral of the story, never give out your personal information to people online. They be crazy! lol
Seriously though, things like that serve to make me even more paranoid.
@Josh
XD
@Joana
Exactly. Mari was ready to get her tin hat out…
Oh my goodness. That is ridiculous! But I suppose that if you treat online fights the same way you do with face-to-face fights, then it doesn’t seem so bad, right? I mean, someone says something you don’t agree with online, you spat over it. It’s the same thing if you were to meet said person and spat over it, only you would have a much better chance of getting physical with that person.
Anyway, my peeve is that he had all the time in the world to think about what he was doing but I suppose he was too blinded by his rage to give a damn. I mean, 1300 miles? That’s a lot of driving and a lot of time; you’d think he’d cool off by then.
@Maria
Well, there was something Mari read about that said he was visiting his parents and this was a last minute decision, but that still is a lot of time to cool your head.
LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!! I posted that shit on http://bitchfit.net . F!#^ that, lollolololollololloll
@chanel
…Mari totally hates cursing on her site…so that’s really rude. *censored*
Wow…that’s just…amazing. I mean by being able to drive so far just because you were called a ‘nerd’. Major counseling is required for that Navy man. Since he’s from VA (thats where I live), I’m pretty glad I didn’t ever cross paths with that man. Looks like he’ll take the simplest joke riddled with sarcasm too too literally.
It’s those damn manly-bits again!
This man still didn’t argue face to face! When will men learn to bitch-slap?
Gah!
Emz shakes head at men.
@Phoebe
Dang straight! He needs serious help.
@Emz
YES!
And why don’t they learn to bitch-slap? XD
[...] general, Internet fighting makes you look stupid. Or crazy, if you decide to go burn the guy’s house down. Try not to fight on the Internet. It really doesn’t solve anything. You can’t change [...]
