The New Seven Wonders
The New Seven Wonders of the World are:
- The Great Wall of China
- Petra, Jordan
- Christ Redeemer, Brazil
- Machu Picchu, Peru
- Chichén Itzá, Mexico
- The Roman Colosseum, Italy
- The Taj Mahal, India
Pretty neat, huh?
Did you know what the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World were?
- The Great Pyramid of Giza
- Hanging Gardens of Babylon
- Temple of Artemis at Ephesus
- Statue of Zeus at Olympia
- Mausoleum of Mausollos at Halicarnassus
- Colossus of Rhodes
- Lighthouse of Alexandria
Mari knows the ancient wonders, because Mari took fine arts in high school for three years, and now, Mari’s in Art History.
Did you know them? Do you agree with the new seven?

It was wonderful to be able to form part of history. I’d also like to vote for the 7 wonders of nature! =]
I don’t see why Christ the Redeemer is so great. I’m not expressing anti-Christian sentiments, it just doesn’t seem so wonderful. I mean, the Statue of Liberty is bigger AND has the same message of welcoming and openness. PLUS liberty.
Also, I wish that the Colossus of Rhodes still existed. It looks so cool.
@Jaclyn
Yeah. Mari voted for Petra and the Great Wall, as well as Machu Picchu, so it’s nice to see that Mari helped vote for these things to be remembered.
@Josh
Yeah, Mari would have voted for the Statue of Liberty or the Eiffel Tower instead.
Doesn’t it? It was Mari’s second favorite to study in art class. Mari’s favorite was the Pharos (Lighthouse) of Alexandria.
I heard about them, and as weird as it sounds I think it’s a good selection though
I didn’t know the ancient ones, never learned that heh.
Iv only ever known about one of the seven wonders and thats the great wall of china. I guess I can see why they are the seven wonders in a way lol
Wish some of the ancient ones still existed cause they are awsome lol
Take care
Hmm, I have to admit, I had no idea what the seven wonders were, apart from the statue of Zeus, but that’s just my Greek background coming through, really.
I do think that the Great Wall Of China deserves to be up there, though, it’s a place that SO many people long to visit, and I think that’s what a true landmark really is, and it deserves it.
@Naco
Some of them Mari doesn’t agree with, but mostly, they’re alright. They are representative of the entire world, at least.
Heh, that’s okay. Apparently a lot of people don’t know them.
@Kahreda
Especially the hanging gardens of babylon. Those would make great photos!
@Frankii
Especially because it can be seen from space!
I always wanted to see that statue of Zeus since I saw Herculese! lol
@Alyssa
Heh. The Disney one or the version with Troy McClure. < /end lame simpsons joke >
My favourite is Jordan’s Petra. I still remember studying that in First Year Architecture program in University. I was astounded by it back then… and I still am now.
Amazing! It’s truly a marvel of human engineering!
I never knew Petra was one of the 7 world wonders….
The Taj Mahal happens to be my favorite. I love the history behind the whole building =)
So far i’ve been to 1/7… Great Wall haha… i hope to go to all of them some day!
@fruity
Petra is amazing, isn’t it? A Roman theatre in the middle of the desert.
@Brittany
Well, uhh, these are the new ones. The old ones were of the ancient world.
Isn’t it interesting? The history is quite cool, being built for the beloved wife of Shah Jahan.
@Crystal
Wouldn’t that be cool? To see all 7?
Yes, I knew the 7 ancient wonders of the world, as just last year I studied them in my World Cultures class. =) I found it very interesting.
I was unaware of all 7 of the new wonders though. Thanks for posting them. I suppose I agree, but it’d be nice to see something from the United States on there, hehe.
@Caitlin
Yeah, it would have been nice to see the Statue of Liberty or something.
