You File Taxes Like An *$@!#%$

Apparently most Americans are too stupid to know that if everybody waits until the last minute to file taxes with TurboTax, the server will cease to function.

A flood of last-minute tax filers swamped Intuit Inc.’s e-filing system early Tuesday, causing long delays for taxpayers trying to check that their electronic returns had been submitted successfully.

Intuit, which makes the popular TurboTax and ProSeries tax software, posted a message on its TurboTax web site Wednesday morning that notified filers that they could not access their returns.

As a result, filers who had waited until Tuesday’s deadline to submit their federal and state income tax forms electronically did not know if their returns were processed by the midnight cutoff.

By late morning Wednesday, however, the message was taken down and users, according to Intuit spokesman Harry Pforzheimer, should have received a confirmation that their returns had been filed.

On Wednesday afternoon, the IRS granted a two-day extension to taxpayers who were unable to e-file their returns using Intuit software products on Tuesday evening. They now have until 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, April 19 to file.

And Maria is glad her daddy took care of it through snail mail early.

And Kaisa is glad the system is different in Finland. We get pre-filled papers in the mail, we check that they are correct and if they are, we do nothing.

How easy it is in Finland. Why in Canada isn’t the same ? We receive paper from federal and provincial and must fill in every little thing like : What is our income in one year, depense, blablabla

That just cracks me up. I mean really, what’s with the last minute thing? If you know you’re not going to owe than guess what? Filing after the 15th isn’t going to hurt you. Those who owe will be SOL if they do that, but not those that do.

Likewise employers have until the end of January to mail out W2’s. If you haven’t received yours by the 15th of February then you can file with your last pay stub. Which means what exactly? There’s no excuse for all of this last minute filing.

We filed our taxes in March, I think. Maybe February. And we went to a person. W00t for doing taxes early and the old-fashioned way!

Hahaha, that’s funny. Yup, that’s what happens when ya file your taxes late.

Every year, I have to do my entire family’s taxes. Everyone gets money back… except me. I have to pay. :(

Mari’s parents did it in February, but Mari’s silly older brother waited till two days before and did it by snail mail.

People are so silly about taxes.
