I'm always a bit leery about 'memorial silences' since I remember having to stand outside around the school flag on ANZAC Day. We all had to stand there for a minute, in silence, but -because- of the silence no-one really knew what they were there for, or why they were silent, other than because it was the "thing to do". Easy shows of sympathy because they are the "thing to do" don't help anyone. Talking helps people, understanding helps people. Silence is just... silence. It's uncritical, it's accepting, it's passive. I dunno, maybe it's just me but somehow -shouting- seems more appropriate... Hrm, I think Lorelle has a very good point.
