RIAA Sues Little Girl

Most recent target: a disabled man. Newest target: a little girl (that is clearly not the culprit). Here’s the PDF to prove this girl did nothing wrong.

Despite her disabled mom’s claims of innocence, The Recording Industry Association of America is insisting on deposing a 10-year-old girl in Atlantic v. Andersen, in Oregon. Tanya Andersen, 42, lives on Social Security disability assistance. Her child was 7 years old at the time of the illicit downloading alleged by the RIAA.

I’m even more disgusted with how the “biz” is handling this (if that’s possible).

    Oh my gosh. I think this is even more ridiculous than targeting the old man. I mean this is a 10 year old! And she would have been 7 when it happened? Seriously. I just don’t understand. It’s the teenagers downloading the music for free. Well, some that are older, but I think the majority is teenagers.
    This is so stupid.

    Isn’t it? RIAA lawsuits are a disgusting mockery of a circus.

    Ohh, I finally get it. The RIAA is a savage tribe of businessmen who sue people to appease their god. And, their god is not pleased unless the targets of these lawsuits become more and more ridiculous. Until it comes to the point of suing an innocent little girl.

    It’s only a matter of time before their god demands blood! O:

    I’m a bit confused by their complete disregard for the treatment of their customers (or, in the case of ten year old girls, future customers). I just don’t get what they hope to gain from this — the negative press is overwhelming.

    And, that’s not the only thing the music industry has been upto. I just read about the pending death of internet radio on Media 3.0. The music industry, it seems, wants to raise royalty rates so high that internet radio stations can’t afford to exist.

    I hope this doesn’t hold up.

    If it’s publicity for anti-pirating that the RIAA wants, they sure got it. Targetting a frail man and a young child, way to go. And I’m sure doing such will obviously put their situation in good light - I mean, when you harass eldery men and tiny kids, you’re sure to win over the hearts of the media.

    My goodness. I’m just glad I live in Canada and don’t have to put up with this garbage.

    @Josh

    XD Brilliant.

    @Jake Williams

    Apparently they live strictly by “Any press is good press”. It’s their tribe motto.

    I’ve been hearing about the upcoming death of internet radio too. It’s depressing.

    Just like beating elderly women earns the adoration of superheroes…

    Personally if its publicity what they want, they got the really bad one. Right now these news are making me not want to ever listen to music. And I don’t care if artists aren’t responsable they CAN do something about it I mean it’s dumb. They lip-synch so we download free. Besides most of their concerts are actually us singing for them so whatever…

    The RIAA have some serious issues. They don’t seem to treat their customers well at all.

  • Kaisa on Reply to this comment

    All this just makes me want to download heaps of illegal music just to piss them off.

  • Miranda on Reply to this comment

    Gah. It’s just ridiculous that they haven’t given up by now. The more they push this the more people find new ways to do it… *shakes head* Gah… that just sums it up lol

  • Littlechet on Reply to this comment

    Everyone has downloaded something illegal somewhere down the line. It was just a little 7 year old girl. They should just let it alone and just counsel her why it’s wrong.

  • Joana on Reply to this comment

    So if I’m reading the article right not only does RIAA realize that they have the wrong culprit and evidence of this fact has been present to them yet they are still continuing to pursue this gir? Why? Damn but these people are just sad and pathetic!

  • Gill on Reply to this comment

    Wow, that’s… just…

    I shouldn’t say shocked, because it’s come to that in our culture now. We are just so quick to litigate, and not investigate the facts.

    I hope the little girl and her mum win.

  • Raymond on Reply to this comment

    This is just weird. I think they should have investigate properly before taking action towards the people.

  • Skye on Reply to this comment

    That’s unbelievable. I guess it just goes to show how much of an example they wish to make people. Deposing a 10 year old child… how ruthless can you be?

    Thanks for the comments, everyone. It’s good to see that people read my article and understood it (for the most part).
