Misstuned » Shutdown Day Tomorrow

Shutdown Day Tomorrow

Shutdown Day is tomorrow! I’m participating, so my computer will be off starting 00:00 (in 3 hours 15 minutes) and will not be back on until at least 00:00 Sunday. I just realized that since it will not be sunny, I need a new plan. How can I keep myself away from the computer, mindless hours of playing my PS2 aside?

So far I have “Do laundry” written on my list. That’s a given, though. I’ve been wearing “doing my laundry” clothes all week. As in, a ratty old hoodie and ratty old flannel pajama pants. I put off doing my laundry for months until I had nothing left to wear. I’m pretty lazy. Do you own “doing my laundry” clothes? Or am I far lazier than you?

I have a box of dark brown hair dye that I just mooched off of my mother, so I guess I could do that…but what about the rest of the time, the time between loads of laundry? I’ll load my iPod with all the songs I know the lyrics to, but I’ll probably spend a bit of time twiddling my thumbs and trying not to touch my PS2. My PS2 will be my last resort.

Hopefully I find some way to entertain myself.

[EDIT - 20:31 25 March 2007] If you’re curious, here’s how I survived Shutdown Day. Also, here’s my first post on Shutdown Day.[/EDIT]

    I had a similar problem, but I didn’t have a load of laundry to entertain me. I had a power outage yesterday, and I managed to stay curled up with a good book and some cookies. =) Wow, I should try and last a day without turning on the computer, just for some self control….I doubt I’d get through har.

    You shouldn’t use box hair dye! It is horrible for your hair!

    Shutdown Day? I’ve never even heard of it.

    And yes, I know you reported me on despair, but I clicked on the ‘inactive’ button in my control panel, so I’m not sure HOW you still got me to comment on YOUR blog.

    I don’t have “doing my laundry” clothes because I live at home and mom does my laundry so I never run out haha. I’ll let you know after I move out if things change. Maybe you could read a book/magazine to kill some time. Or play cards/board games. Yes you can play board games by yourself. I used to do it all the time (I’m such a loser haha).

    Hmm I suppose you’re about to come back or whatever. Anyway I’ve never heard of this but it sounds cool. It’d be a really big challenge for me. I would like to speak with you ,e-mail when you can please.

    @Candie

    Not just a load. About 20 loads. Oh, yeesh. At least I knew Shutdown Day was coming.

    @Brandi

    All hair dye is bad for your hair. But I’ve been dying (and cutting) my hair myself for ages, so I know what I’m doing.

    @Deanna

    I live at home too, I just don’t make my parents do my laundry.

    I did read a magazine! You’re practically psychic, older Deanna! =D My April issue of SPIN came and saved me from playing PS2 for more than an hour.

    I used to play board games by myself too! Apparently we’re both losers. XD

    @Jaclyn

    It was cool. It was supercool.

    I really should have participated in this. Then maybe I could have actually worked on that big English assignment that’s due tomorrow.

    Oh, wait, I need the internet for that. Well, I should have at least worked on that yesterday. Instead of having GameFaqs up while I played Phoenix Wright.

    Shutdown day seems like a good concept, though I don’t know how I would ever survive without my computer for a whole day!

    As for laundry clothes, I usually do my laundry at night. Like, start the wash machine before I go to bed, then in the morning, put them in the dryer. Then take a nap. That way, I have nice, warm, clean clothes for my 12:30 class. :)
