Misstuned » Our Neighbor Dropped a Tree on Our House!

Our Neighbor Dropped a Tree on Our House!

I think the title says it all.

Our neighbor collects lumber and last year he asked if he could have this one tree in our backyard that we didn’t really care about. We agreed, and he decided to act on that this afternoon. He called and left a really loud message on our answering machine about it.

We wouldn’t have minded except that my mother works nights, and she had a 12 hour shift from seven last night ’til seven this morning. So she was sleeping. Aside from my mother, my brother had got home from work dead tired at noon and was trying to nap. My father got up in the middle of the night and wanted to take a nap. I was the only one that wasn’t sleeping. Anyway, he calls us and wakes everybody up leaving a really loud message, and we try to ignore it. We’re not doing anything today, we’re all tired.

Then he comes and knocks on the door (again, waking everyone up). Apparently we needed to move our dog so he could run a chainsaw (and keep everyone up again). I didn’t answer the door for about ten minutes, so he just unhooked the dog’s chain and moved the dog over to the porch.

He and his buddy that he had helping him start sawing through the tree. Okay, we’re trying to get back to bed, then crrrrrrr-aaaaaackkk! Okay, normal tree cutting noise, right? Then we hear about ten thousand pine limbs hit the roof.

I start cursing like a sailor, em-effin’ the guy (I never liked him much) and run out to the back door to see what he did. He dropped the dang tree right on our back porch! Everything on our patio was completely crushed, and half our porch was knocked over.

His excuse? “The wind caught it and my buddy couldn’t hold it.”

Moron.

Here’s a shot of when the tree was laying on our porch/patio:

Here’s what used to be our patio:

He immediately offered to replace the stuff he broke and fix our porch, but I’m still ticked off. If I didn’t like this guy before for valid reasons (he’s creepy and a real jerk to our other neighbors), any respect I could have had for him just flew out the window.

    Aw, that sucks =(
    At least nothing bad happened to your house!

  • Deanna Marie on Reply to this comment

    @Mags

    Yeah, at least he didn’t drop the stupid tree right on my room…

  • glitterbat on Reply to this comment

    Erm… what the ‘eff? Is it just me, or is it rude to drop a tree on someone’s porch when they’re sleeping?

    As if he couldn’t wait until a time when it suited you as well… it’s your damn tree after all o.O

  • Deanna Marie on Reply to this comment

    @Glitterbat

    Apparently not to our neighbor! Thank goodness someone knows what I’m talking about!

    Yeah, and we’re letting him have the lumber. What a jerk…

  • Lintun on Reply to this comment

    Why did he come in the middle of the night?! If that had been me I would’ve said, “F*** OFF!” He’s sounds like the average fat guy doing something for money.

  • Deanna Marie on Reply to this comment

    @Lintun

    It wasn’t the middle of the night. It was the afternoon. Haha!

    We’re just usually sleeping in the afternoon because we all have weird schedules.

  • Shari on Reply to this comment

    Screw the patio! At least no one got hurt - only his pocket and ego, and you and your family’s heads and eardrums. ^_^

    He was itching to kill that tree, wasn’t he? He couldn’t wait for the time that suited you and your family well. Boo him.

  • Kaysha on Reply to this comment

    That guy sounds pretty rude. The nice thing he could have done was wait until your family was awake and double check with them first, gee. Glad to hear nobody got hurt.

  • Menelya on Reply to this comment

    WTF? that is so rude! At least no one got hurt that’s a good thing.

  • Deanna Marie on Reply to this comment

    @Shari

    Yeah, his pocket will definitely get hurt. It’s not cheap to rebuy the stuff we had.

    @Kaysha

    Rude is an understatement. He tried to get our neighbors on the other side of him evicted after their house caught fire and they were having trouble fixing it up quickly. This guy is a total jerkwad.

    @Menelya.

    Yeah, I was lucky the dog didn’t get hurt. He got a good scare, though.

    And, gee I wish people would read my Site Policies before putting (Despair) all over the place so I have to remove it.

  • Becca on Reply to this comment

    O my gosh. That is crazy! He better replace it!
    I would have been cursing like a sailor too. He should have waited atleast untill everyone in the house wasn’t asleep.
    Glad you like my new layout. :D I’m happy about it. I might even make another one like it only a diffirent color. Who knows? lol

  • Maria on Reply to this comment

    I would be cranky too! He should’ve waited until it was a more appropriate time to cut down your tree. Just because you said it was his to take doesn’t mean he needs to forget all his manners. It’s a noisy process and he should’ve asked beforehand.

    As for breaking your patio, it’s right that he’s paying for it! If anything he should make you dinner too (or breakfast since he ruined your morning).

    “SK2 really is harsh on bad spelling and grammar.”

    Hahahahaha. That makes me laugh considering every time I leave a comment for you, it gets caught by SK2 and I usually type with proper grammar (as proper as I know how to). This makes me amused. Maybe it’ll be my new job or something, to set off SK2 every time I leave a decent comment.

  • Kaisa on Reply to this comment

    I would go and drop a tree on his house :D But anyway, the guy sounds like a major arse and an idiot and all that, bleh…

  • Joyce on Reply to this comment

    Holy cow. That guy really does sound like a total moron. But him offering to cover the damages is nice, at least you won’t have to sue him or something. You’re lucky no one got hurt.

  • Juzzy on Reply to this comment

    OMG!! =O Your neightbour sucks big time!! He could have been a bit more careful but lucky it didnt hit the actual house =/

    I have to agree with you.
    M-O-R-O-N.

    GL with that new porch >.

  • christine on Reply to this comment

    omg i would have flipped out. seriously if he didn’t know what he was doing he should of never attempted to cut down the tree. obviously he didn’t know what he was doing considering it fell the wrong way. i would have your house checked just in case. did it actually hit the house at all or just the patio?

  • janelle on Reply to this comment

    OMG! that’s all I can say. He’s totally weird! And destructive too! I don’t want that kind of guy in my neighborhood. I have an insomnia and usually loves to sleep during the afternoon.

    patience.. patience.. patience is key ~_~ for a better understanding…. i guess

  • Deanna Marie on Reply to this comment

    @Becca

    We have weird schedules, so we actually sleep in the afternoon sometimes.

    @Maria

    Gawsh, you know I’m just going to have to manually keep letting your comments through. I don’t know why but you keep getting marked as spam! Poor you.

    Actually, it would be lunch, haha. Everyone seems to misread the part where it says my mother works nights. That means she sleeps in the day.

    @Kaisa

    A lovely suggestion. XD

    @Joyce

    Yeah, more like his pocket is lucky no one got hurt. At least he’s been fixing things, though.

    @Juzzy

    Yeah. And it’s not like he was a nice guy beforehand…

    @Christine

    Yeah, he only had one guy helping him. The last time we cut a tree down back there we had to have six guys help and they still couldn’t hold it.

    It hit our porch, but he repaired it already.

    @Janelle

    Yeah, he’s creepy. He gives me the impression that he’s totally weird, but that’s just me. No one really likes him in our neighborhood.

  • Jon on Reply to this comment

    I’m pretty lazy.. but it’s more so the girl rather then the wii. ahah.

    are you pretty decent at graphics?

  • Jon on Reply to this comment

    because I suck horridly. I was trying to find a few people that are good with graphics that can help me out.

  • Naco on Reply to this comment

    Wow, that sucks. Thankfully he says he’s going to fix it, but yeah I’d be just as p$^@#d as you are too! Thankfully no one was hurt though.

  • Tawny on Reply to this comment

    heck! i would be upset too!
    and i am so sorry on what happened.

  • Deanna Marie on Reply to this comment

    @Naco

    Yeah, he gave my mum some money to rebuy the stuff we had, and he fixed our gutter and porch.

    @Tawny

    Yeah, I’m still kinda upset, but at least he knows not to do that again.

  • Joseph on Reply to this comment

    Wow, it’s hard to believe someone would be that inconsiderate to go ahead and chop down a tree in your yard without taking the proper precautions to keep it from hitting your house. Anyways, hope things get better for you. Oh, and thank you for the comment on my entry on Paris. It’s nice to see that someone can have an opinion different than mine without being a jerk about it. Happy New Years!

  • Jessica on Reply to this comment

    What a idiot and a stupid excuse =X!
    At least he’s replacing what he broke though :) Anyways, Happy New Years XD

  • Deanna on Reply to this comment

    Wow, a tree on your house! That sucks. I’m glad he offered to pay the damages, otherwise he would be a complete jerk.

  • Stella on Reply to this comment

    F***, even if he says he’s going to fix it, I”ll say, “F#$^ YOU MISTER. Don’t talk to me”. and give him mean looks when I see him

    S^&$#. I dont’ know why you would be like LULZ SURE ILL LIKE YOU CHOP MY TTREEE. I know you don’t care but still. POOR TREE. Wait. Did I read it correctly?

  • Deanna Marie on Reply to this comment

    @Joseph

    Yeah, a lot of people are total jerks when you say something other than what they think. Believe me I’ve run into them.

    @Jessica

    Happy New Year to you, too!

    @Deanna

    Yeah, and he actually did. I took the photos because I thought he wouldn’t.

    @Stella

    Oh, MY you have a dirty mouth! Whoo, Stella you’d make a sailor blush.

    We’ve had to clear a lot of trees out from around our house recently. We couldn’t keep the gutters clean because of pine needles and pine cones. Actually, we couldn’t keep ANYTHING clean. You can still find pine needles all over even though we’ve cut all our pine trees down.

  • Evie on Reply to this comment

    Whoa.. he dropped a TREE on your house??? Way inconsiderate!!! Hope your porch gets fixed soon ^_^
