Bill Nye the Science Guy on Pluto
Remember “Bill Nye the Science Guy” (what?)? In middle school science class (or on TV if you were dorky enough as a kid), you’ve probably watched the TV show. If you’re a bit older than us whippersnappers, this show is to us as Watch Mr. Wizard (what?) was to you.
If you haven’t been hiding under a rock, you certainly know that Pluto is no longer a planet (what?).
I recently came across an article on ABC News where Bill Nye, hero of dorky kids everywhere, gives his take on the whole Pluto controversy.
If you brought Pluto close to the sun, like where Mercury is, it would have a tail like a comet and in a few millennia, it would volatize. It would just disappear into space. … I mean, is that worthy of a planet — a planet that just evaporates? For crying out loud.

As far as I’m concerned, it saves me some breath in the reciting of new mnemonic devices found in this post at Kottke.

Ah, yes, the shocking news for some. For others, a relief. I also heard there will be 50 something other planets added to tne solar system. Poor those who’ll be studying the solar system. Anyways, I’ll write you tomorrow. By the way, I installed a new e-mail form using bizmail. Everything works. I seem to get data (on a script). Unfortunately, I do not seem to be getting any e-mails (and I tested it 100 times). Ah, I’ll see to it tomorrow. Anyways, take care.
Yeah, I feel the same way about it. Even though when I first heard the news I was a bit like WHAAA? WTF?! But hey, It doesn’t sound planet worthy to me! Heh. Thanks for commenting on my site! Have a great week.
i like pluto. it’s cute & small, and if it were an animal it’d probably be fluffy!
I just have to say something totally irrelevant before I continue with my real comment.
I LOVE YOUR LAYOUT.
Okay. Haha. Oh, and yes! I’ve watched Bill Nye the Science Guy before! LOL. Really long ago. HAHA. I actually like it. :p
Bill Nye is still around, I have only seen episodes of his show in middle school in science class.
I’ll have to ask my niece what’s the new mnemonic is, if she’s covering the planets this year in school.
bill nye is awesome. he’s the only reason I learned anything in 7th grade
I LOVE Bill Nye! XD I love to learn about what’s in space. I wonder whta happened to Planet X
Sarah: Haha! A fluffy planet? How adorable.
Lissa: Yeah, I found the mnemonics on Kottke and with a Google search.
Kelsey: Ha, yeah. I loved watching that show as a kid. (Of course, that was probably because I was so dorky. XD)
Yvonne: I don’t quite remember what happened to Planet X. Maybe it’s a dwarf planet now like Pluto? Or maybe it was one of these? (link: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/7/72/Iau_dozen.jpg )
Hmn. Akismet seems to be giving a lot of false positives recently. Anyway…
Nadia: 50 new planets? MADNESS, I say! I declare shenanigans on the IAU, so everyone go grab your brooms. And I’ll be checking my mail, alright? If the worst comes to it I’ll find a mail and comment script for you. =D You take care, now!
Marsha: Thank you, m’dear! How very sweet of you! Hah, me too. Hooray for us dorky kids who like Bill Nye!
Amazingly I seem to have deleted some of my WordPress pages! Oh, what a foolish squid I’ve been…Well, back to fixing my site, then.
Thanks so much for the lovely comments, my dears!
